A Sussex firm has turned around a brand new business to support the local community in just two weeks and is already providing a home delivery meat service with 150 deliveries per day.
Brighton Express Meats was formed when the hospitality industry collapsed as a result of Government closures of pubs, restaurants and cafes in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.
Leading Brighton-based catering trade wholesaler Blakes Foods lost its entire market overnight, but has come back providing a free next day home delivery service offering high welfare, high quality family meat box deliveries.
“It has been a terrible time for all our friends in the hospitality industry, but people still need to eat well and are cooking at home,” said Director, Greg Thatcher.
“Our no-contact home delivery can offer a safer alternative to going out to the shops at this difficult time and the response from local people has been amazingly positive.
“We are delighted to be able to continue to distribute our superb meat, mostly reared by local Sussex farmers, which we normally sell to chefs across the county.”
Brighton Express Meats can deliver to homes in Brighton & Hove and a 20-mile radius around the city, including Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, Lewes, Newhaven, Shoreham and Worthing and everywhere in between, offering packs of meat with a range of meals, covering from one to two weeks, for families of all sizes.
Huge, high-welfare chickens, sausages, bacon, steak, lamb and beef roasts and pre-chopped chicken and beef for stews and casseroles are all available for free next day delivery, if an order is placed by 4pm the day before.
Customers are already giving the service rave reviews, complementing the high quality meat as well as the simplicity of ordering and speed and efficiency of delivery.
Brighton Meat Express is also offering a discount of 10 per cent to NHS workers.
